New Open 60 and Superyacht Visitor Berths at Haslar Marina

A new 95-metre hammerhead pontoon is now available for visiting boats at Haslar Marina.

With an average depth of six metres below chart datum, the new pontoon can cater for yachts in excess of 200ft – or a fleet of as many as ten IMOCA Open 60s without the need to raft.  All berths will be fully serviced with water and electricity bollards plus WiFi broadband.

Construction of the pontoon was completed on Friday (13 June) and bollards and safety equipment are currently being installed. Work will be completed by the end of the week, substantially extending capacity for visiting boats in the summer season.

Haslar local Alex Thompson (of Hugo Boss - pictured) has already tried the new pontoon for size. He said: “Dean & Reddyhoff has supported my sailing campaigns for over ten years by providing me with berthing and shore side facilities at Haslar Marina. With such easy access to the Solent there really is no better place for us to be based in the build up to the Vendee Globe at the end of this year. The installation of the new deep water pontoon is a real bonus for the Hugo Boss team and I’m sure it will prove really popular with both Open 60 sailors and visiting superyachts.”

Round the Island Race 2008 - Update

We are sorry to say that we have now closed the advanced bookings for the Friday and Saturday of the Round the Island Race weekend as we have reached our maximum number of pre-booked places.

Having opened the books on the 8 th January this year, by the 31 st January we had taken our maximum advanced booking capacity of 150 boats.

Don't despair - We do hope to be able to take a few extra boats on a first come first served basis over the race weekend, subject to availability after all of our pre-booked boats are berthed.

The Lifeboat Pub

Our waterside pub The Lifeboat at East Cowes Marina, is now being very successfully managed by well known yachting pub operator Chris Troup and his Coastal Inns & Taverns company.

Following the extensive £200,000 refurbishment by Coastal Inns & Taverns, The Lifeboat is now a very comfortable waterside pub and brasserie serving freshly cooked local produce at sensible prices. Our visitors can relax and enjoy a well cooked meal in stylish surroundings with swift and attentive service.

The Lifeboat has plenty of space to cater for locals, holidaymakers and hungry yachtsmen even at the very height of the season. There is also a quiet sofa area for coffee, relaxation and newspaper reading.

The Lifeboat Pub following refurbishment
During Cowes Week this year, the pub will again be offering breakfast every day, as well as a marquee with live music each evening.

Berth Holder Summer Party and Hog Roast
The weather for this year's event was not all it could have been, but there was nevertheless a good turnout of faithful berth holders, and a good, if somewhat damp time was had by all! The Island's very own Unity Stompers provided the music and the food was up to it's usual high standard.
